Center for Natural Products and Biodiversity Studies (CNPBS)

The Center for Natural Products and Biodiversity Studies (CNPBS) is a research institution under the Ikhlas Insan Bestari Semesta Foundation that sustainably harnesses the biodiversity of West Sumatra for the benefit of society.

• Exploration and phytochemistry of bioactive compounds
• Biodiversity mapping and conservation strategies
• Ethnobotany and scientific validation of traditional knowledge
• Development of applied natural products (herbal, nutraceuticals, cosmetics) and biotechnology

Targets: reputable publications, patents, standardized herbal products, and regional biodiversity databases.

Priority Research Programs

1. Exploration and Phytochemistry: isolation of bioactive compounds from endemic flora and fauna.
2. Biodiversity and Conservation: inventory and conservation strategies.
3. Ethnobotany and Traditional Knowledge: documentation and scientific validation.
4. Applied Natural Product Development: herbal formulations and natural cosmetics.
5. Natural Product Biotechnology: tissue culture and secondary metabolite production.

Roadmap 2026–2030

• Phase 1 (2026–2027), Foundation: recruiting researchers, exploratory research, BRIN registration.
• Phase 2 (2028–2029), Acceleration: prototype development, IPR filing, laboratory accreditation.
• Phase 3 (2030), Maturity: product commercialization, impact assessment, institutional certification.
