The Ikhlas Insan Bestari Semesta Foundation (YIIBS), through its Center for Natural Products and Biodiversity Studies (CNPBS), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sari Anggrek Forest Farmers Group (KTH Sari Anggrek) of Nagari Tigo Jangko, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra. The signing took place in Padang on 9 June 2026.
The partnership covers natural products research, biodiversity conservation, and development of the Madu Galo-Galo HQ enterprise, a honey produced by group members from stingless bees (locally known as klulut). It aims to support sustainable economic self-reliance and health (Green & Blue Economy) in West Sumatra.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Anna Cesaria, M.Pd, Chair of the YIIBS Board, and Upik Marnis, Chair of KTH Sari Anggrek. Rival Yuhendri, Ph.D, Head of CNPBS, is the technical lead for implementation.
Five Areas of Cooperation
- Scientific research on the characteristics, composition, and properties of Madu Galo-Galo HQ.
- Appropriate-technology support for processing, packaging, and quality standardization of non-timber forest products.
- Biodiversity conservation, including studies of endemic bee-forage flora in the group's managed area.
- Capacity building for officers and members through training, extension, and technical assistance.
- Joint publication and dissemination of results to support the sustainable green and blue economy.
Under the agreement, KTH Sari Anggrek provides access to its managed area, field data, and product samples, and involves its members in training and data collection. YIIBS provides researchers and supporting facilities, conducts evidence-based studies, and shares findings periodically in a form members can readily understand.
Research outputs, publications, and knowledge products are jointly owned and must credit both parties. Funding is arranged through a joint proposal for each program. The MoU runs for two years from signing and may be extended.
